If you are traveling with your family though, you can consider visiting some of former national parks in the United States. They are full of wonders and you can let your kids to know more about nature in real life not from a digital screen like TV or phone. This is the best way to introduce your kids about the great of the nature and how important the role of national park is.

National parks in the United States which are worth visiting

Many travelers are more interested to visit official national parks. However, visiting the former ones is not bad at all. There are still many interesting thing you can enjoy while visiting them. Former national parks may not as hype as the official ones but you can still take the value of nature. If you have no idea about your destination, here are some of former national parks in the United States you should consider visiting while travelling around with your family:

  • Hawaii National Park was actually split into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Haleakala National Park. The former is a home to active volcanoes, Kilauea and Mauna Loa. Kilauea is actually one of the most active volcanoes on Earth. By visiting this national park, you will learn more about the impact of the volcanoes on Hawaii.  Meanwhile, Haleakala National Park is a home to a summit that is quite challenging to climb. Trekking is recommended when you visit this place.
  • Platt National Park was originally named the Sulphur Springs reservation. There are many things to enjoy while you are visiting this lovely place such as streams, lakes, rivers, etc. You can also go for fun activities allowed in this place such as kayaking, fishing, boating, camping, etc. This is a great place to bring along your family and friends together so you can explore more with fun.
  • General Grant National Park has been merged into Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The first purpose of this national park was to protect the sequoias from logging around California. However, it is hard not to open this place for public since there are many beauties to spot. The area is so beautiful with tall green trees surrounded by canyons.
  • Sullys Hill National Park is worth visiting since it is a home to the most natural beauty of Earth. The current name for this place is Sullys Hill National Game Reserve. Today, this place is managed by Fish and Wildlife Service. They oversee the hunting and fishing in the area. This is a home to wooden hills and marshes where you can also find wildlife creatures such as bison, prairie dogs, elk, as well as white-tailed deer. You can also bird watching.
