Thankfully, some buildings on the front of the palace are open to the public until the afternoon. You only need to pay a few thousand Rupiahs to get inside. Very cheap and you can directly explore the forefront of the Palace.
If you want to take a moment to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the cold mountain atmosphere and also the view of Mount Merapi itself, please head northwards from Jogja and find a big area called as Kaliurang.
