It’s November and you’re already thinking of which winetr destination you’d visit for your winter break this year. When you’re from the warmer parts of the world, you’re probably wondering how you can stay warm during your travels, without looking like a walking bundle of your grandma’s blanket. Everyone wants to look good during their travel, Dressing for winter destinations can be a bit tricky, but it’s entirely doable by everyone. Here are some key points in dressing for your winter vacation.

How to Dress for Winter Destinations

Always think of outfits in layers. Layering is one of the major keys in staying warm for winter. Not only that, layering would give you a room for creativity. It gives you a chance to play with your pieces to make you both warm yet fashionable.

Make sure to always wear at least three layers when you go outside. The innermost layer is the layer that you wear on top of you underwear—or it can also be a thermal undergarment. The middle layer would be your insulation and it would be the layer that you’ll wear when you shed your third and outermost layer.

Thinking in layers is also extremely essential for reducing the amount of space you’d use in your suitcase. It prevents you from the sin that every traveler has ever known; overpacking. Don’t waste your precious backpack or suitcase space just for a clothing item that you won’t even wear in your travel. The what-ifs and just in case are big culprits for overpacking as well.

Trench coats and pea coats are superb pieces of clothing to look good even during the coldest of months. They’re a staple for a winter fashion wardrobe. A good trench or pea coats can dress you up instantly even though you’re merely wearing plain sweats on the inside. Another piece of outerwear to consider is the overcoat. Overcoats are simply brilliant. The length of the garment flows and they have a lengthening effect on your figure.

Over the knee boots are fashion pieces that will give you an instant lift in your outfit. They emphasize the shape of your legs. This is especially true for black over the knee boots. They are simply a gorgeous addition to complete your winter look.

Lace-up over the knee boots can sometimes be used as well, especially for a night out. The lace-up details would draw the attention to your legs. They’re particularly seductive and flattering. No lace-up over the knee boots are just as alluring. When you’re wearing a skirt, the skin peeking between the above of the boots and the end of the skirt brings out a particularly feminine appeal. There’s also the fact that over the knee boots are warmer than say, when you’re wearing tights. You really can’t go wrong with over the knees as your winter travel wardrobe.

Don’t forget about gloves as well as hats or earmuffs. The body parts protected by those items don’t have enough fat and therefore, are very susceptible to the freezing cold.

You can also opt to wear a mask—the winter winds can be painful when it hit you in the face. A scarf that you wear to hide the bottom half of your head also works well.
